ANTELOPE CANYON:
Just off our trail system map on BLM land, we now have hiking access to antelope canyon. A beautiful cross-country descent into a pine forest with interesting rock formations. It's about a mile each way to a sign post. From Piece Ferrry Rd, turn right onto 15th street, bear right onto Lost Mine Road (14th street) and follow the road for about 2 miles, where it dead ends into a primitive parking lot. (Regular cars park on North Street and walk the last 1/4 mile because road is rough). Hike straight down into the canyon. (PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the major tourist attraction with the same name near Lake Powell).
PINE CANYON:
Another fabulous canyon, which is adjacent to Antelope Canyon. The best feature is the wild mustangs, which can always be seen in groups up in the hills. From Pierce Ferry Rd, turn left on Ironwood (south) just past the fire station, go to the stop sign and turn left on 11 street, go to Jesmond Drive and turn right and go till it dead ends at 9th Street, turn left on 9th and continue through the gate and past two or three roads on the right, just before 9th street gets narrow and starts up a hill turn right, this road crosses a deep wash then you turn left at the first road you come to, not far from the wash, follow this road to the trailhead. High clearance vehicles are required for the last 1/2 mile.
